5 Reasons to Correct Breast Asymmetry
2 Minute Read:
Most women, especially those on the younger end of the time scale, want to be comfortable with their breasts and prefer for them to be attractive—as opposed to the alternative. Relatively mild breast asymmetry is normal. However, having significantly asymmetrical breasts can be quite problematic and anxiety-provoking, and they can interfere with various aspects of one’s life. These differences may be in shape, position, or volume.
Fortunately, there are procedures available that can successfully address substantial asymmetry. Some of these include breast lift surgery, breast reduction surgery, breast augmentation, or a combination of these.
1. Improve Physical Comfort
Breasts that are significantly asymmetrical can cause physical discomfort, especially when related to size differences. This can cause differential forces on the chest, shoulders, and neck, which can affect various activities and be problematic when engaging in them. The severity is even greater when the breasts are quite large.
Of course, this can also make it quite difficult to find comfortable and supportive bras since the breast cup sizes are not the same.
2. Make Exercise Easier
For women, a large part of feeling comfortable when exercising is wearing a supportive bra. A supportive bra can help keep your breasts somewhat immobile and out of your way, particularly when engaging in vigorous movements. Unfortunately, your bra will only work optimally if you have relatively symmetrical breasts.
3. Reduce Stress When Shopping for Clothing
Manufacturers of women’s clothing assume that breasts are symmetrical. Shopping for a new outfit should be a pleasant exercise, not the nightmare it can be to deal with different sized or shaped breasts. For example, it can feel impossible to find a bathing suit or even top that works when the size difference of your breasts is a cup size or more.
Plastic surgery to treat breast asymmetry can easily solve this problem.
4. Increase Self-Esteem
Many women who have uneven breasts suffer from a lack of self-esteem. They may feel so embarrassed about their situation that it affects multiple aspects of their life. This can include avoiding various physical activities, decreased social interactions, and even avoidance of intimate relationships.
Surgery to correct this problem can be very effective.
5. Decrease Stress and Anxiety Levels
Having different-sized breasts may feel like a secret that you have to keep. You may always have to be on the alert for some type of activity or interaction that can expose your “issue”—and that can be exhausting, stressful, and anxiety-provoking.
You will see a significant decrease in your stress levels when you opt for surgical treatment of your breast asymmetry.
