Do You Have Sagging Breasts After Losing Weight?
3 Minute Read:Â
If you have recently lost a significant amount of weight and are left with sagging breasts, you are not alone. Skin laxity after significant weight loss can affect many areas of your body. Some areas, like your breasts, can be far more acutely affected. Â
Losing weight with diet and exercise is often one of the more healthy decisions that you can make. Droopy breasts may be an acceptable price to pay for far better health and vigor.Â
Besides, it can be corrected relatively easily with a procedure such as a breast lift (mastopexy).
What Causes Droopy Breasts?
There are a multitude of reasons that women’s breasts droop — with time and gravity being fairly universal. Contributing factors can also include substantial weight fluctuations, weight loss, stress, smoking, lack of adequate support (including not wearing a bra on a regular basis), tanning and usage of tanning booths, poor nutrition and underlying medical issues.Â
As regards to dramatic weight fluctuations, when we gain weight, our skin stretches and there is loss of tissue support including tissue elasticity. With weight loss, especially when it’s lost quickly, the stretched skin cannot contract adequately enough to prevent laxity.Â
This skin laxity can leave your breasts looking deflated and flat.
And sad…
How to Get Firmer, Fuller BreastsÂ
If you are dealing with breast ptosis (sagging), you will need to undergo breast lift surgery. This surgery can be performed either alone or in combination with another breast procedure if you also want to change the size of your breasts.Â
Choosing the Right Procedure to Rejuvenate Your Breasts
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
A breast lift is the simplest way to correct droopy breasts. In this procedure, excess skin is removed, and the breast tissues are lifted and contoured for a fuller and perkier appearance. Typically, there can be up to around a cup size decrease in volume as a consequence of this.
Breast Augmentation and Lift
If you not only want to have a breast lift but also increase the size of your breasts, then a breast lift and breast augmentation would need to be performed. With cohesive silicone breast implants placed in a submuscular pocket, you can realize larger, perkier, attractive more youthful appearing breasts.
Breast Reduction
If you started with very large and droopy breasts and want to be significantly smaller in size, then a breast reduction may be the procedure most appropriate for you. This not only involves removal of excess skin and breast tissue but also a lift as well.Â
You can now have smaller yet perkier breasts that you can be very happy with.
Timing of Weight Loss and Breast Enhancement Surgery?
If you are planning to lose a large amount of weight and also want to improve the appearance of your breasts with a lift, reduction, or mastopexy-augmentation, it is strongly recommended that you lose the weight prior to proceeding with your cosmetic breast surgery. This will allow you to better obtain the results that you desire and maintain them for a longer period.
